My company purchased your software well over a year again. The price was right (important to the VPs), extremely easy to set up, and it works like a charm. It currently protects our entire intranet site and we've had no problems with it. On the rare occasions when I've had to contact support about implementing an advanced feature (such as this), the response has been timely, friendly, and informative. Outstanding work. Keep it up.

Thanks again for your help.

Thank-you for the note, it's very much appreciated and we will wholeheartedly recommend your products to other within our industry. We are one of the most technically advanced studios in our industry and many of the other watch and look to us to see what we are doing. Once we do something they all seem to follow along and implement whatever we do. Hopefully this behavior can and will lead to additional sales for Flicks. You have a great product that is easy to use, does it's job well, and is reliable. If you ever need any promotional statements or marketing "testimonials" we would be happy to provide our input.

Again, thank-you for the help.

Hello Kevin and Scott,

This is a quote from a company wide email:

"As some of you know, in October we added to the Atlantech server an add-on to our security software (Authentix, which does password verification for the sites). The add-on, named Titan, intercepts suspicious requests to the server so they can not attempt to break into the machine. Between Oct 15 and today [Dec. 12], Titan has blocked 82,055 suspicious requests.

That works out to almost precisely one attempt per minute to break into our server."

Thought you might find that interesting!

Thanks again,

Hello Scott,

Even if we have our own fully featured control panel, we just can't do it without AuthentiXISP. Unlimited users with personlaized access to any directory of the website, using an internal or external database: the dream of our webmasters.

It is easy to use, so even our non expert customers are familiar with it's features right after testing our on-line demo. The setup of a new customer profile takes only a few minutes, so we can give one of the most powerful user administration tools investing a minimum of tech resources.

All this without the need of real NT user accounts, gaining system resources and eliminating security risks.

We have been using a competing product and it is quirky and the support are non native English speakers and I am tired of their failure to document things. I saw that LaGarde software uses AuthentiX and I like the way the ODBC works in the program. I am looking forward to purchasing and using it.

Scott & Kevin,

We are very pleased with your WebQuota product. By using the AuthentiX Extensibility SDK provided with WebQuota, we were able to produce a very scalable and secure custom authentication solution for use with our hosted "Web@Work" information portal service. The SDK has allowed us to give each of our customers full control of their own accounts with no interference from us, all while authenticating from multiple sources. Your included COM objects save time and effort by allowing us to set up new customers in seconds over a web page. With WebQuota's built-in functionality, the included COM objects, and the Extensibility SDK, we have been able to customize this product to do everything we ever needed.

Thank you for a great product!

Hi, Scott. Thanks for the quick reply and helpful info.

I'm impressed not only with AuthentiX's features, but was amazed that it installed and just worked, right 'out of the box.' As Web developers, we spend way too much time chasing down bugs and idiosyncrasies in vendors' software, so this was quite a nice surprise. In fact, it made it possible for me to get out of the office and actually make it to a Memorial Day BBQ yesterday. So I owe y'all a beer. ;-)

You do have to use another solution, but Site Server is a bit of a
pain to work with as you may already know. Check out http://www.flicks.com
for a product called Authentix. It's far easier to use then Site Server, and
I've actually converted a couple of my sites from using Site Server to
Authentix. At least Authentix let's you choose how to store the date, in an
internal db, any ODBC compliant database, or through the NT SAM. It's also
way cheaper then Site Server which is a plus. Flicks should also have a
trialware product that works identical to the purchased one so you can put
it through it's paces. FYI, the online docs are way better then the ones
that usually ship with Authentix so if you run into trouble, check the
online ones. The sample code that comes with the trial also needs help, but
there are clearer samples in the online docs.

Dear Flicks Software,

I purchased WebQuota about 1 month ago for my company's Web Site which will
soon be rolled out. Of the 10 programmers in my company, I am the only web
developer. I am also a Network Administrator. I was looking for an easy
way to do some Web traffic control/monitoring and to implement user logon
authentication against our Oracle database using asp technology. I found
your company while doing research on the Microsoft developers site. I am
glad I did.
I installed WebQuota yesterday and configured the ODBC database connectivity
along with designing and implementing cookie based authentication.
Your product worked great! Your FAQ's answered my questions. I followed
your recommendations and everything worked as planned. It also made me look
good. I also use Front Page 2000 and its functionality was unaffected.
Thanks Flicks for a great product!!

Hey Scott,

So far I have
simply scratched the surface with what your products can do. I am looking
forward to "playing" with all the features and walking through the tutorial
on creating the Authenticate COM object with VB6. Yet another wonderful (
and fun) feature!

My predecessor was adding all the users to the NT user system. I am sure you
have heard but when you try to perform maintenance after adding a large
amount of user you start to run into a lag. A serious LAG! Forget trying to
do any type of custom reports about activity, visits, browser type etc. Good
luck exporting a password report!

Using my own database I can query my customer table in all sorts of useful ways and get completely away from the NT user system. Add ASP and I can even provide my customer base reporting functions customized to their particular needs.

Again...I can't say enough good stuff about the programs. You are making me look fantastic! ;-) I am going to continue to development my login system using WebQuota as the backbone. I am certain that the Big Bossman will give the OK for me to purchase the program for out servers after he sees what "I" can do!!! ;-) If you guys ever get to NC drop me a line. I'll buy you lunch!!

This is a note of thanks for your fine product, WebQuota. Yesterday
afternoon, one of our routers informed us of excessive traffic to one of our

the target of account abuse. The site in question had 400 registered

Hello Scott, Thanks for all of your help! Because of Web Quota we were able to build the web site our client wanted, and stay with our host of choice on an NT server. It provides superior security and the HTML based control panel is quite simple to work with. This allowed us to fulfill our obligation to the client, and hand over control of his site to him. Both we AND the ultimate client were happy.

-----Original Message-----

Now this is what I want to do
1st. Get a user to enter his info into a custom login form.
2nd. Check the info in my Access database
3rd. if the info gets thru then login to NT as a different user that has
defined rights what it can do in the NT system (write/read)
that's because I don't want every user to have this rights, but only one,
that no one would now the password but me, and with this user logged I would
then work in my application.
So when the user logon check with my database I would like to logon as
'privuser' username.

I solved this problem for myself by using a commercial authentication module called Authentix (www.flicks.com). It avoids having to use NT user accounts and NTFS access rights to log people in (eg when you have 10,000 user/password combinations - manage that with NT user accounts!) as you can authenticate users against any ODBC database table or the authentix program's build in database. It's easy as pie to use and can protect directories or indivdual files as you choose. It installs as an ISAPI filter so it's fast. give it a try.

It's an absolute dream come true. Great security features, database acccount protection where you can ban IP addresses for trying to run WWWHack against your servers, password abuse filters where you can suspend accounts for simultaneous use and a host of other features.

EZ to install and configure and the developer who wrote it answers the phone and answers your questions. He's a hoot to talk to ;)

I would like to put a personal endorsement in for AuthentiX. I asked on the list last week about securing web pages. I had seen AuthentiX, but it wouldn't work for me since it was case sensitive on the password (all of my passwords are stored in a database in uppercase.) I also didn't like that it secured the directory and not the individual files. After no response from the list I called Kevin and explained the situation I had. He told me how I could protect individual files (it's quiet easy), and looked at the problem I was having with the passwords. He then recompiled the code with a switch in the registry to turn off case sensitivity in the passwords. An hour later I had the new version and it works like a charm.
